Jered Weaver and Jose Arredondo combined to pitch a no hitter for the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night against their NL rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers.  The only problem?  The Dodgers won 1-0.

Matt Kemp reached first on an error in the fifth inning, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error, and scored on a Blake DeWitt sacrifice fly.  That was the only run of the game.  The Angels recorded all five hits, including a threat in the ninth inning when they had runners on first and second with two outs against Dodger's closer Takashi Saito.

Theno-hitter is un-official, as the Angels didn't combine for nine innings.  Only one pitcher has pitched a nine inning no hitter and lost, and that was Ken Johnson for the 1964 Houston Colt 45s.  Three pitchers have pitched an un-official no-hitter and lost.  They were Matt Young in 1992, Andy Hawkins in 1990, and of course we all remember Silver King in 1890.
