Cellllebraation! (Woohoo!)

This weekend Brett Favre broke another record and I have heard nary a word about it. Where's the pomp? Where's the circumstance? Why wasn't the game stopped for the ensuing celebration? Why wasn't Dan Marino doing the happy dance on CBS? It's un-American that we not celebrate every one of Favre's great achievements damn it! Momma, apple pie, turducken,

Now I'm Freeeee!

Free falling,

Yes I'm Freeeeee!

Free falling.

So I turn on the news this morning and I see a story out of Yakima WA . Apparently a skydiving plane crashed with ten people aboard. Seven of the bodies have been recovered and they are still searching for the other three. Now I don't want to sound crass but... Why didn't people on the plane jump?

Next year's slogan: The Chicago Marathon, People Are Dieing to Finish.

Speaking of collapsing: How about them Cubs? That was one of the all time "We're just happy to be

Super Size My Fantasy Team

Every year I hear something in the news about how fantasy football is nothing but a legalized form of gambling on sports, no different than actually placing money on the outcome of a game.  This either comes from handicappers trying to justify sports betting, or from another source who just wants to get rid of fantasy sports all together.  I can only imagine this other source would be the "Bosses and Wives Association", since these are the people who benefit the least from fantasy sports.

Maybe it's a stretch to call fantasy sports a form of gambling.  Anyone

Week 4 Fantasy Football Preview

Remember way back at the start of the NFL season when every fantasy league was decided by who it was who took LaDanian Tomlinson?  Remember when Steven Jackson was the only other good running back in the draft?  Remember Larry Johnson being called the #3 guy by most people (myself included.)  Remember when no one else had a shot if you were outside of the top 3?  Yeah, have fun with Brian Westbrook.  LT owners are going to have fun with the title.  So long ago that was.

Fast forward three weeks later, and we've got a different story.  LT isn'

Before we get to this week's Contenders and Pretenders, I felt it necessary to comment on Mike Gundy's rebuttal to The Daily Oklahoman's Jenni Carlson column.

If you are reading this, you've seen, read or heard the tirade. In fact, you probably have heard numerous people comment on the explosion in question. Look no further than Accuscore's Zach Rosenfield.

I have been on the receiving end, not directly, as a college football beat reporter. Most of the time, the thing that ticks of coaches more than anything is when "journalists

Time to buy on Steven Jackson/Larry Johnson

So you're a Larry Johnson owner and you're considering your third overall pick in the first round pick a bust?  Maybe you bought in to the hype that Steven Jackson was the sure bet at the number two pick.  And if you drafted number one, you were guaranteed a championship with LT on your team, although that's looking kind of dim too.  Maybe you're neither, and you're sitting pretty with one of your late first round picks, or a 6th round stud like LaMont Jordan.  Regardless of where you stand, don't expect the current production of the top three running

NFL Truths After Week 2

Posted by twilliams in Tim WilliamsNFLFootballFantasy

Nothing is set in stone in the NFL after only two weeks. However, there are a lot of trends that have emerged. Some of these trends are misleading. Some of these trends are forecasting what we will see for the rest of the season. Last season the Saints were 2-0 going in to week three. They were underdogs to the Falcons, who entered the week 2-0 as well. Everyone was hoping the Saints would win, but no one really thought they would dominate the Falcons from the start. After winning 20-3, the Saints went on to a 10-6 season, and to the NFC Championship.&

Sunday Review, Monday Picks, and Fantasy Football

Before I get to the breakdown of the football picks from yesterday, I'm going to bore you with some fantasy talk.  I don't mean that I'm going to talk about my teams, because you're not interested that I'm holding a lead in 4 of my 5 leagues, and that I left 60-80 points on the bench in almost all of my leagues.  I'm just going to talk fantasy football for a bit, and I know that's boring because I put two fantasy columns up, and 85 people read them.  177 people read my picks for Sunday.  That tells me that either you don't care about fantasy

Only the first week of the season is in the books and I already have my fatal attraction back for college football.

Yes Michigan and Applachian State dominated the headlines, but there are several other schools who should be brought up on charges of contenders or pretenders.

 Contenders:

Cal showed against Tennessee that for the first game of the year they are the best team in the Pac-10.  Cal dominated on offense, defense and special teams and have the one item USC lacks, a playmaker.  See DeSean Jackson.  Last year he returned 20% of his returns for touchdowns

Leave Your Emotions at the Door

After Saturday's Michigan-esque loss to the sports books, I decided to take all of Sunday to watch Heroes season 1, and to just recover from the huge blow that I took from an awful start to the season.  I didn't even want to look at the picks I had made, knowing already that they were bad.  During one episode of Heroes, one of the characters stops time in roulette, places the ball in the slot that his friend bet on, then resumed time for his friend to discover that he won the spin.  I think that would be one of the powers I would like to have, with this power ranking up
