COWBOYS FAIL 1st GRADE MATH TEST: 14 - 3 = 11

Posted by gibby in New England PatriotsGibby McCalebDallas Cowboys

Before I get started, let me clearly point out that the better team won.  There were a few critical mistakes made by Dallas that might have given them the opportunity to win this game with the word ‘might' being the key.  As I said in my analysis, the Cowboys would have to play a perfect game to have a chance and they clearly did not.  The Patriots deserve all the credit for winning this game.

I don't think anyone had any notion that the Cowboys defense would be able to stop Tom Brady and the Patriots offense.  The key to winning this game

The Colts 5-0: Who the Hell Cares?

Posted by gibby in Tony RomoTom BradyPeyton ManningPatriotsIndianapolis ColtsDallas Cowboys

All the talk of the league is the Patriots and Cowboys yet flying quietly under the radar are the Indianapolis Colts. What? The Colts? Yeah, those Colts. And trust me, they are loving it.

For what seems like the past decade, Peyton Manning and the Colts have been the highflying media darlings and carried that pressure until they finally shook the ‘big game’ monkey off their backs last season with a convincing Super Bowl win over the Chicago Bears. You can’t imagine what it’s like playing under that level of scrutiny and media attention for years and how good it feels to

Rams at Dallas: Cowboys Biggest Test of Season

Posted by gibby in Tony RomoStephen JacksonSaint Louis RamsMarion BarberMarc BulgerGibby McCalebDallas Cowboys

Yeah, you heard me. The Dallas Cowboys are facing their biggest test as a team this weekend when they host the Saint Louis Rams. Yes, those Rams. The ones without Steven Jackson. The ones with Marc Bulger and his two broken ribs. The team that is 0-3.  Those Rams.

This may seem like the dumbest thing I've ever written and if you have been a regular reader, you know I have written some dumb things before.  How could the Rams even pose a threat to Dallas?

Well, what is concerning is Dallas just came off a huge win, and not a close one either

Bears Offense is TOAST

Just about everyone in the windy city, and for that matter almost the entire national media, has clamored for Rex Grossman's head and this week, it looks like their wish was granted. I really think they are all looking in the wrong direction.

Bears fans can officially start commiserating with Ravens fans at this point. Face it, whether you are a Bears fan or not, it's painful to watch an amazing defense be wasted by an inept offense but that has been the situation in Chicago for the past year and the situation in Baltimore for much longer.  My partner Stephen

Dallas to Tank: Guns are OK Here!

Posted by gibby in Washington RedskinsTank JohnsonPhiladelphia EaglesNew York GiantsJeff GarciaGibby McCalebDonovan McNabbDallas Cowboys

Tank Johnson is officially a Dallas Cowboy and he’s lucky to land in a State that loves them some guns! Yee haa.  After tripping up with the law and with the league over gun issues, Tank Johnson will be able to relax in Texas, possibly even discussing the merits of a Glock 24 with fellow team mates and the local citizenry.

The right to bear arms aside; this is a great deal for both parties.  Tank will arrive, following his NFL mandated suspension, right around the time the play off race is heating up.  Long before then, Dallas should have both Terrence Newman and

The Patriots Caught Cheating: BFD, Get Over It

Posted by gibby in PatriotsNFLGibby McCalebChargers

OK, so the Patriots have been caught cheating with a video camera on the side lines.  So what? Seriously, what is the big deal?  I agree, it's cheating and the Patriots and Belichick deserve to get popped for it but we're not exactly talking Watergate stuff here.

So enough from you Patriot haters already.  All teams try to steal signals. Why do you think coaches cover up their mouths when they call plays? Do you really think no one has ever tried to steal signals in a baseball game?  Are you not aware that cameras with zoom lenses are allowed in the

NEWS FLASH: Lions 2-0, Hell Freezes Over

The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers are undefeated, 2-0, to lead the NFC North.  The Bengals score 45 points but lose to the Cleveland Browns.  Oh but wait. There's more! The Houston Texans are 2-0 and are tied atop the AFC South with the Super Bowl champ Colts. That is amazing enough but they are only a few points behind them in scoring for the season.  That is jaw dropping.

Remember that team that grinds out the clock with run after run? Well, the Pittsburgh Steelers are only a single field goal behind Peyton and the Colts.  And no one is even close

Michigan Falls on Grenade to save Ohio State

"This is truly one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for us," said freshman special teamer Jason Orbott.  Jason plays for the Ohio State Buckeyes. "We expected a really tough battle this year in the Big 10 and now thanks to the generosity in Ann Arbor, it looks like we just have to worry about Wisconsin now."

This has to be the most disastrous fall in the history of sport, barring maybe that "agony of defeat guy" who eats it on the ski jump.  God, that still hurts just thinking about it. Who was that guy? Did he live?

AFC Pimp-Slaps NFC...Again

Posted by gibby in Reggie BushPeyton ManningNFLNew Orleans SaintsIndianapolis ColtsGibby McCalebDrew Brees

Yep, sad to say but its true and I'm an NFC guy!  After a sluggish start, it took a whopping 4 drives in the second half to pimp-slap the Saints out of their "we're contenders" day dream.

Truth is, despite the league's effort for parity, the good teams in the AFC are just better than the great teams in the NFC. I am hoping I'm wrong, honestly but I just don't see it.

Who do you think will stand up? The Bears? Certainly, their defense is Super Bowl caliber but I'm not sure Benson can handle the rushing load and Lord

OLD TIME FOOTBALL. Putting on the foil coach.

Posted by gibby in NFLGibby McCaleb

OK, so it's dead week in the NFL. Fantasy drafts are done, final roster cuts have been made, we're all sick of preseason games. Face it; we're all dying for the Colts to unload on the Saints.  AccuScore gives the Colts a 72% chance of helping the Saints to start the season 0-1. I could care less about Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill or John Mellencamp. I don't have a clue who "Hinder" is.  I just want to see some damn football already.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get into baseball.  And I played baseball for 9 or 10 years of my life. The summer is
