QUARTERBACKS

Aaron Rodgers is still #1 in the QB rankings because of his stellar passing numbers and his 20+ rushing yards per game. However, he is nursing ankle injuries and owners should keep their eye out on this.

Kurt Warner had a bad Week 8 but AccuScore expects his fantasy production to peak in the second half of the season, especially in the fantasy playoffs when he faces the Lions and Rams in Week 15 and 16.

Jay Cutler and Matt Hasselbeck have disappointed fantasy owners, but as both of their teams struggle with the running game and face some tough opponents they could both rack up decent garbage points late in games and they could actually be decent fantasy starters even if they are not good in ‘real’ football games.

AccuScore expects Matt Schaub to decline the rest of the year because Owen Daniels is out, but more importantly, the Texans have a tough schedule (2 Colts games, Patriots, @ Miami) and even though they are statistically poor defenses no one would be surprised to see Tennessee and Jacksonville step up in the division games.

Brett Favre and Joe Flacco are two of AccuScore’s highest rated players in terms of passer rating, but their teams are balanced offensively so they may not have as many pass attempts as other top tier fantasy QB options.

Mark Sanchez is too inconsistent to be a fantasy option, although his scrambling ability does make up for his relatively low completion percentage. We also do not like the combination of a tough remaining schedule and increasingly bad weather the rest of the season.

Matt Ryan’s numbers (yards, TDs) are up this year with the addition of Tony Gonzalez, but his completion percentage and overall rating are lower (due to a higher interception rate). AccuScore expects the Falcons to look to return to last year’s form where they were a run first team with Michael Turner which will help Ryan reduce interceptions but may limit Ryan’s total fantasy production. He is currently ranked just 19th amongst QBs in fantasy value.

RUNNING BACKS

Ray Rice is firmly planted in the Top 5 of RBs. He may not be the best runner between the tackles, or the most explosive RB, or the best receiving RB, but he is probably in the Top 5 in every dimension which makes him a Top 3 RB for the next few seasons.
