| MLB Stretch Run: AL Central |
|
The Twins and White Sox meet for a three game series which will play a huge role in the AL Central playoff race. AccuScore simulations have the White Sox winning the AL Central in 72.8 percent of simulations, mostly because the two and a half game lead will be hard to overcome for the Twins. Minnesota is winning two of the three games against the White Sox. Scott Baker is leading the Twins to a win in game one over Javier Vazquez in 52.6 percent of simulations. The White Sox are taking game two, and the Twins are winning the series in game three, to move to a game and a half back in the standings. The Twins have a favorable schedule following the three game series against the White Sox, with three games to finish the season at home against the Royals. Early AccuScore projections have Minnesota easily sweeping that three game series, thanks to solid work from Francisco Liriano, Scott Baker, and the rest of the pitching staff. Unfortunately for the Twins, Chicago would only need to win two of their final games to clinch the division, and the White Sox have a favorable schedule as well, playing three games at home against the Indians. Chicago is forecasted to take two of three games against the Indians, clinching the division by half a game. The Twins have just a 27 percent chance of winning the AL Central. The easiest path to take would be to win all three games against the White Sox this week. That would give Minnesota a half game lead going in to their three game series against the Royals, which would be as close to locking up the division as you can get. Trackback(0)

Hmmm, well I wonder what the chances are now that the Twins Swept? ![]() |
| The Twins are playing terribly lately. Well, rather, their starters are starting to look like their bullpen... And that's not good. I see the White Sox walking away with this one. |
| excuse my bias, but the twins are playing bad down the stretch as well. 2.5 games might be enough to sustain. playoff ball on both sides of the chi. |
| I can see the White Sox letting this slip away. If the Twins win two of three, I'd say a Twins win is likely as the Indians could easily sweep the White Sox the way they're playing. |
